Rules of the Road: Use Your Signals!

It can be said that the lights and signals on your car are just as important as the wheels, especially with regard to staying safe on the road. However, far too many accidents continue to occur because of the driver failing to either keep his or her lights properly functioning or perhaps failing to correctly use certain important signals on their car. Needless to say, knowing how and properly using the lights and signals on your car will certainly decrease the chances of you getting into a serious accident.

“Blinkers,” “flashers,” and “indicators” are all words for turn signals which are used to show your intentions for moving in a lateral direction. As most people understand, using your turn signals is important, but it can certainly be stated that too many of us fail to use our signals when making a move into a different lane, off-ramp, or even when making a normal turn. Needless to say, failing to turn on your blinkers when making any kind of lateral move at all can be dangerous as the less that other nearby drivers know about your intentions, the higher the chance that they may run into you or visa-versa.

Making sure that your lights are functioning properly is also vital in helping to keep you safe on the road; not to mention the fact that non-functioning lights can get you pulled over by the police! Without a doubt, be sure to use your signals and ensure that your lights are functioning so that you can reduce your chances of a serious accident. Rules of the Road: Adjusting Your Seat Can Make A Big Difference

I recently purchased a new car and one of the more noticeable differences between driving my new car and driving my old car is how much lower to the ground this one rides. My old car certainly wasn’t a big truck or even an SUV, just a compact sedan but this new car is a little sportier and the first time I sat in it, it definitely felt different.

In order to feel fully comfortable with this new car, I found that I had to spend a little bit of time adjusting the seat. While just about every car has seats that are adjustable, some that are maybe too adjustable, it’s not uncommon to find drivers that don’t take full advantage of this standard option. A lot of people will simply pull the seat forward, making it easier to reach the pedals but those seats offer all of those moveable parts for a reason and when you take just a little to make these adjustments, you’ll find yourself not just more comfortable but with a broader vision of the road, leading to safer driving overall.

It should also be noted that these types of adjustments should be made as much as possible before you begin driving. It’s possible you’ll need to make some minor moves once you’re on the road and can better tell how you’ll need to adjust to see the road but just as with any distraction, you’ll want to keep it to a minimum once you’re among the traffic. Defensive Driving Austin Courses Should Teach Safer Driving Skills

Now that DefensiveDriving.com® offers a fully state and court approved option for completing a defensive driving Austin course, most people in the capital city are no longer choosing to take these courses in the traditional classroom setting. Anyone that has ever attended one of these classes will tell you that they’re not structured ideally for learning and are meant to just help you quickly pass an exam in order to receive a ticket dismissal.

While that ticket dismissal tends to be the motivation for most taking a defensive driving Austin course, there’s no reason that the participants shouldn’t also have an opportunity to acquire valuable skills that will help them be safer when they’re on the road. With a course from DefensiveDriving.com®, you’ll have up to 90 days to learn the material and complete the exam, so you can work at your own pace. That means if you’d like to get it out of the way quickly, you’ll have that option but if schedule or learning style dictates you take more time, you can do so without any pressure.

We’re also confident that our approach to presenting the material will lead to you retaining the information more effectively than when a class it taken in a live classroom. We have instructors available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you’ll be free to participate when it’s most convenient for you, any time of the day or night. It’s easy to see why we’ve become the primary choice for those completing defensive driving Austin courses.

No Matter How Long You’ve Been Driving, There Is Still Ways To Become A Safer Driver

Driving is something most of us do on a daily basis but rarely give much thought. If you’ve never been in a serious accident, you can consider yourself lucky but that doesn’t mean it’ll never happen. You can, however, decrease the likelihood by participating in a defensive driving course. People that have taken a defensive driving class in the past may have memories of a long, one day session in a classroom that put the emphasis on memorizing the material in order to pass an exam at the end of the course.

While thousands of people have taken those types of courses in order to get a ticket dismissal or lower their insurance rates, unfortunately they don’t put a high priority on actually learning skills that will make safer drivers. When DefensiveDriving.com was launched ten years ago, our goal was not just to make it more convenient for people to take a defensive driving course but to design and offer courses that would actually result in safer drivers. Unlike courses offered in a classroom, a DefensiveDriving.com class can be attended any time of the day or night from the comfort of your home.

We’ve not only eliminated the schedule restrictions that come with taking a classroom course, by giving you up to 90 days to learn the material and pass the exam, you’ll have the freedom to learn at your own pace. Our graduates walk away with not just a certificate but with actual learned skills that they’re able to use on the road to make them safer drivers.

Never Again Take A Classroom Defensive Driving Course

Since DefensiveDriving.com was launched ten years ago, fewer and fewer people are choosing to take a defensive driving course in the traditional classroom setting. Nearly every aspect of a classroom defensive driving course was either inconvenient or inefficient, which led to most people dreading the classes. This is unfortunate because in addition to getting a traffic ticket dismissal, these courses provide valuable information that can help people be safer drivers.

Unlike in the classroom setting, a defensive driving course from DefensiveDriving.com can be taken as it fits into your schedule, rather than the other way around. Most classroom courses are offered on a Saturday and usually all in one session. This can make it difficult not just to find time to take the class but to actually learn the material. Those types of courses are designed for people to memorize the information needed to pass the exam. A course from DefensiveDriving.com allows you up to 90 days to review and learn the information so that you can work at your own pace and take the exam when you’re prepared and the intent is that you’ll actually acquire the defensive driving skills taught.

Of course the most convenient aspect of taking a defensive driving course through DefensiveDriving.com is the fact that you’re able to participate in the class from the comfort of your home. We offer both DVD and streaming online options for our courses, with instructors available 24/7. With this kind of flexibility, few ever take a defensive driving course in the traditional classroom setting again. To read more about defensive driving course, please visit the following url:

Learn How Easy Texas Defensive Driving Can Be

When DefensiveDriving.com was created, it changed the way people viewed Texas defensive driving. When someone got a traffic ticket and wanted to get it dismissed, they would have to schedule a time to take a classroom defensive driving course. This wasn’t always that convenient even though the ends usually justified the means. The flexibility available when taking a Texas defensive driving course through our website allows someone to complete the course in as little as 6 hours but also allows someone up to 90 days to complete the state and court approved course. This means that no matter what kind of schedule you have or what kind of learner you are, you’ll be able to learn and process the material in a way that fits you best. Our instructors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so should you ever have questions, they’ll be there to help.

Whether you’d like to take a course through our streaming website or order one of our DVDs and watch the lessons on your television, you’ll find that this is really the only way to take a defensive driving class. Simplify TX Defensive Driving

If you’re interested in taking a TX defensive driving course to lower your insurance rates, get a traffic violation dismissed or simply because you want to become a safer driver, there is no better way to do so than by taking a class from DefensiveDriving.com. We were the first website to offer online TX defensive driving courses and we’ve been doing so for over 10 years. We’ve been the innovators in the industry and all of our classes are state and court approved.

We recognized a need for a more convenient method for completing a defensive driving class. It used to be required that people take a one day course in a live classroom, which made this activity that wasn’t always something that one wanted to do and added a number of other complications. Finding an available time to take the course and having to do it all in one sitting meant that there was a degree of pressure included in the traditional setting, especially for those of us that hadn’t been in classroom in years.

When you enroll in a class at DefensiveDriving.com, you’ll have up to 90 days to complete the course, allowing to process and learn the material at your own pace and because you can take the course at home at any time of the day, we’ve alleviated pressure that can come with taking the live class. Additionally, should have you any questions, are instructors and customer service representatives are available 24 hours a day.

Be Prepared To Share the Road With University Of Texas Students With Defensive Driving Austin Courses

Whether you’re new to Austin or a long time citizen of the capital, you’re aware that driving in in the city can sometimes be tricky and at times, even scary. At various times throughout the year, the population of Austin fluctuates based on the school year schedule of the nearly 40,000 students that attend one of the nation’s great institutions of higher education, the University of Texas. Every fall, when those students return, including a whole new batch of incoming freshmen, many of which may have never even been to Austin, let alone driven around, the roads suddenly become a lot more congested and as a result, a lot more dangerous.

Thanks to defensive driving Austin courses available conveniently online at DefensiveDriving.com, you can be better prepared for those times of the year. We offer a number of different classes for a variety of needs. The classes are very affordable, especially when you consider how much it’ll cost to get your car fixed or how much your insurance rates will go up should you be the victim of an accident. And for those that have taken a defensive driving class before, one that required you to actually visit a live classroom on a Saturday, you’ll really appreciate the how much easier it is to complete one of the classes at home (if you can’t take the class online, we offer DVDs of the courses as well). You’ll have the benefit of moving at your own pace and as it fits into your schedule.

TX Defensive Driving Is More than Remedial

Usually the Texas defensive driving program is a way of meeting demands of the court when it comes to dismissing tickets. Or to put that another way, the defensive driving program is not always a voluntary program but a court-ordered one. There are other benefits to taking the course such as insurance rate reductions. Once you complete the course, most insurance companies are willing to drop your rates by 10 percent. Oh and there is one more reason that is rarely mentioned although it is implied in the concept. And that reason is that the TX defensive driving program just makes you a better driver. Maybe it is because the program is usually thought of in terms of ticket dismissal that the main reason gets shoved into the background and the course is considered as something a person is forced to do.

It’s easy to take. And it’s cheap. For a mere $25 and six hours of your time, you can finish the course online completely at your own pace in the space of 90 days. You come out of it as a better driver, knowing the rules of the road so much better than you ever did before. And you save more than the cost of the course on your insurance. Driving defensively has many benefits. If you have ever had an accident, even a little fender bender, you know how inconvenient an accident can be. The more you know about preventing little accidents, they more apt you are to prevent big accidents and this can only be a very good thing.

Learn How to Make Great Driving Decisions by Taking a Defensive Driving Class

Murphy’s Law states that if anything can go wrong, it will, and at the worst possible moment, and this certainly may seem the case if you or someone you know is involved in a car crash, but this law doesn’t necessarily have to apply as long as you know how to avoid a dangerous driving situation. This is, in essence, what a defensive driving class is all about: improving your driving skills so that when faced with a potentially dangerous driving situation, you’ll be sure to make the decision that will either help you to avoid an accident completely or greatly limit the damage done to you or others.

“Being in the wrong place at the wrong time” can be a typical excuse when being involved in a traffic accident, but even if you are facing a bad driving situation, with a defensive driving course, you’ll learn exactly how to make the best decision when faced with a potentially dangerous driving scenario. Without a doubt, these defensive driving classes are extremely beneficial, and if you are interested in improving your driving skills, then you should look into the high quality classes currently being provided within DefensiveDriving.com®.

A DefensiveDriving.com® defensive driving class is extremely convenient, inexpensive, and very high quality. Although there are a great deal of benefits associated with these classes, perhaps the best benefit of all is the fact that these courses will improve your driving skills so that you’ll make the best decisions possible while out on the road. The city of Austin has a lot to offer, including a number of pedestrian-friendly places; however, the fact of the matter remains that most people living in Austin will need a car to get around, and although most of us get in a car each and every day, we very often don’t anticipate anything happening to us while we’re driving. Yet, being complacent while we’re on the road can be dangerous as sometimes being prepared to make a split-second decision can mean the difference between avoiding a crash and being involved in a serious and potentially fatal accident. Needless to say, being prepared to make the right decisions is critically important while we’re driving, and the defensive driving Austin course from DefensiveDriving.com® can give us the knowledge that we need to stay safe while we’re out on the road.

Avoid Expensive Tickets with Help from the Texas Defensive Driving Course

Whether you live in Texas or in another state, one thing which might be in store for your future is an increased chance of being pulled over for a traffic ticket. That’s because many states are starting to rely on increased revenue from traffic tickets rather than direct taxes. Although traffic ticket “blitzes” may become more common throughout the US, you can certainly decrease your chances of being a ticket target by taking a Texas defensive driving course.

It has been reported recently that the commonwealth of Virginia has employed a traffic ticket “blitz” which yielded nearly 7000 traffic tickets in a single weekend. Needless to say, in a ticket blitz such as the one displayed in Virginia, state and local police will be looking for any errors in driving, and perhaps even if you break the law in the most trivial of ways, such as going over the speed limit by 5 miles per hour, then you may also find yourself bearing the burden of servicing a super expensive traffic ticket. However, adjusting to this new reality means having to drive defensively, but this can be easily learned by following the principles laid out in the Texas defensive driving course from DefensiveDriving.com®.

Protecting yourself from potential traffic ticket blitzes in the future isn’t the only benefit found in a Texas defensive driving course. Completing this course could also allow you to dismiss a recent Texas traffic ticket, and you might also have the opportunity to have your insurance rate lowered by up to 10 percent! Stay safe the next time you’re on the road, and be sure to find out more at DefensiveDriving.com®. http://www.defensivedriving.com

DefensiveDriving.com’s® Rules of the Road: Avoid Horrible Accidents by Learning How to Pass Safely

Some of the most gruesome road accidents occur when one car is attempting to pass another on a two-way road. The usual situation involves one driver becoming impatient with the car in front, and instead of waiting for a safe opportunity to pass, the driver will attempt to pass without proper visibility of the road ahead, and soon finds that there is simply not enough time to get back into the right lane before meeting an oncoming car. Without a doubt, accidents that involve unsafe passing are entirely preventable, and learning not only a little patience, but how and when you can safely pass will go a long way in helping to avoid horrible accidents in the future.

Making sure that you have enough room to pass the car in front and return to the right lane on a two-way road can involve some estimation, but by and large, the rule is that you must be able to return to your lane before coming within 200 feet of the next oncoming vehicle. If you don’t feel that you can pass the car ahead of you and return to the same lane before 200 feet of the oncoming vehicle, then don’t pass at all! Although this rule is simple and can save lives, some people are simply impatient and take huge passing risks anyway. If you are one of these people, then you should seriously think of the consequences of taking such enormous risks, and ask yourself, is cutting a few seconds or minutes off of your journey really worth the risk of losing your life or the lives of those in the car in with you? The answer of course is no, and although learning to become a more patient driver can be difficult, it can be achieved! For more tips on how to become a safer driver, please enroll in an online defensive driving course from DefensiveDriving.com®. DefensiveDriving.com’s® Rules of the Road:  Stay Safe - Don’t Tailgate!

So many accidents including multiple car pile-ups could have been avoided if drivers had simply provided enough space between themselves and the car in front of them. Although we were all warned at one time just how important the concept of space between cars is, we oftentimes forget this critical point and tailgate. Providing enough space is one of the most important rules of the road, and if you follow this rule, you can certainly reduce your chances of getting into a serious accident.

To stay safe and not tailgate, apply the two-second rule! If you sign up for a TX defensive driving course, you will surely hear about ways not to tailgate. One strategy is called the two-second rule, simply pace yourself, behind a vehicle for two seconds. For those who have forgotten this important rule: when driving behind a car, pick a specific landmark on the road ahead. Once the car in front of you passes the landmark, begin to count: one one-thousand, two two-thousand, and if you pass the landmark before you finish counting “two two-thousand,” then you are too close to the car in front of you and need to provide more space. This two-second rule can be applied in most circumstances, but when driving in bad weather conditions, two seconds should probably be extended to four or even five second intervals.

Providing enough space between you and the car in front of you will certainly help you to avoid accidents in the future, so be sure to utilize the two-second rule every time you’re out on the road.
