Rules of the Road: Use Your Signals!

It can be said that the lights and signals on your car are just as important as the wheels, especially with regard to staying safe on the road. However, far too many accidents continue to occur because of the driver failing to either keep his or her lights properly functioning or perhaps failing to correctly use certain important signals on their car. Needless to say, knowing how and properly using the lights and signals on your car will certainly decrease the chances of you getting into a serious accident.

“Blinkers,” “flashers,” and “indicators” are all words for turn signals which are used to show your intentions for moving in a lateral direction. As most people understand, using your turn signals is important, but it can certainly be stated that too many of us fail to use our signals when making a move into a different lane, off-ramp, or even when making a normal turn. Needless to say, failing to turn on your blinkers when making any kind of lateral move at all can be dangerous as the less that other nearby drivers know about your intentions, the higher the chance that they may run into you or visa-versa.

Making sure that your lights are functioning properly is also vital in helping to keep you safe on the road; not to mention the fact that non-functioning lights can get you pulled over by the police! Without a doubt, be sure to use your signals and ensure that your lights are functioning so that you can reduce your chances of a serious accident. Rules of the Road: Adjusting Your Seat Can Make A Big Difference

I recently purchased a new car and one of the more noticeable differences between driving my new car and driving my old car is how much lower to the ground this one rides. My old car certainly wasn’t a big truck or even an SUV, just a compact sedan but this new car is a little sportier and the first time I sat in it, it definitely felt different.

In order to feel fully comfortable with this new car, I found that I had to spend a little bit of time adjusting the seat. While just about every car has seats that are adjustable, some that are maybe too adjustable, it’s not uncommon to find drivers that don’t take full advantage of this standard option. A lot of people will simply pull the seat forward, making it easier to reach the pedals but those seats offer all of those moveable parts for a reason and when you take just a little to make these adjustments, you’ll find yourself not just more comfortable but with a broader vision of the road, leading to safer driving overall.

It should also be noted that these types of adjustments should be made as much as possible before you begin driving. It’s possible you’ll need to make some minor moves once you’re on the road and can better tell how you’ll need to adjust to see the road but just as with any distraction, you’ll want to keep it to a minimum once you’re among the traffic. Defensive Driving Austin Courses Should Teach Safer Driving Skills

Now that DefensiveDriving.com® offers a fully state and court approved option for completing a defensive driving Austin course, most people in the capital city are no longer choosing to take these courses in the traditional classroom setting. Anyone that has ever attended one of these classes will tell you that they’re not structured ideally for learning and are meant to just help you quickly pass an exam in order to receive a ticket dismissal.

While that ticket dismissal tends to be the motivation for most taking a defensive driving Austin course, there’s no reason that the participants shouldn’t also have an opportunity to acquire valuable skills that will help them be safer when they’re on the road. With a course from DefensiveDriving.com®, you’ll have up to 90 days to learn the material and complete the exam, so you can work at your own pace. That means if you’d like to get it out of the way quickly, you’ll have that option but if schedule or learning style dictates you take more time, you can do so without any pressure.

We’re also confident that our approach to presenting the material will lead to you retaining the information more effectively than when a class it taken in a live classroom. We have instructors available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you’ll be free to participate when it’s most convenient for you, any time of the day or night. It’s easy to see why we’ve become the primary choice for those completing defensive driving Austin courses.

No Matter How Long You’ve Been Driving, There Is Still Ways To Become A Safer Driver

Driving is something most of us do on a daily basis but rarely give much thought. If you’ve never been in a serious accident, you can consider yourself lucky but that doesn’t mean it’ll never happen. You can, however, decrease the likelihood by participating in a defensive driving course. People that have taken a defensive driving class in the past may have memories of a long, one day session in a classroom that put the emphasis on memorizing the material in order to pass an exam at the end of the course.

While thousands of people have taken those types of courses in order to get a ticket dismissal or lower their insurance rates, unfortunately they don’t put a high priority on actually learning skills that will make safer drivers. When DefensiveDriving.com was launched ten years ago, our goal was not just to make it more convenient for people to take a defensive driving course but to design and offer courses that would actually result in safer drivers. Unlike courses offered in a classroom, a DefensiveDriving.com class can be attended any time of the day or night from the comfort of your home.

We’ve not only eliminated the schedule restrictions that come with taking a classroom course, by giving you up to 90 days to learn the material and pass the exam, you’ll have the freedom to learn at your own pace. Our graduates walk away with not just a certificate but with actual learned skills that they’re able to use on the road to make them safer drivers.
